To help Ren Ci Hospital and Medicare Centre in its major fundraising drive, CDL lent its support to the meaningful work of the organisation as a corporate sponsor for the Ren Ci Charity Show 2007. The Show was broadcast to 1.1 millions, and successfully raised a total of $6.49 million for the hospital’s operational costs as well as help finance Ren Ci’s new premises in Irrawaddy Road. The highlight of the Show was a breathtaking stunt performed by Venerable Shi Ming Yi, Chairman and Honorary Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, who scaled CDL’s 23-storey City House along Robinson Road.
Raising $60,000 for Assisi Hospice’s "Teddy Bank" Appeal
All 300 CDL employees participated enthusiastically in Assisi Hospice’s “Teddy Bank” fund-raising
campaign. In April 2007, within one month of adopting 60 Teddy Banks, CDL staff
collectively raised about $60,000, well surpassing Assisi Hospice’s target of $100 per
bear!
The funds raised will go towards the palliative care of adults and children suffering from
cancer and other life-limiting illnesses at Assisi Hospice. Assisi Hospice hopes to raise
$500,000 through this campaign, which ends in June 2007.
Beyond just raising funds, CDL staff displayed their creative spirit: specially decorated Teddy Banks were presented to the Hospice for the enjoyment of its patients.

CDL Receives Pinnacle Corporate Citizen Award
In recognition for its firm commitment to active corporate citizenship over the years, CDL has been conferred the prestigious Corporate Citizen Award by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC). CDL is the first local-based company to win this prestigious award which has previously been accorded mainly to Multi-National Corporations (MNCs).
A Fairytale Christmas at Assisi Home & Hospice
Members of City Sunshine Club, CDL’s staff volunteer club, celebrated Christmas with the children from Assisi Home & Hospice. Besides decking the centre with bountiful hand-made Christmas décor, the children were brought on an enjoyable Duck Boat ride, followed by an afternoon of games, storytelling and a magic show at Assisi Children’s Centre.

Raising $100,000 for President's Challenge 2005 with a Heart Voyage
As a philanthropist and an advocate of charitable causes, Kwek Leng Joo, Managing Director of CDL contributed copies of his limited-edition photo art book Heart Voyage, to raise funds for President's Challenge (PC) 2005. A corporate leader with a passion for photography and a heart for the community, Mr Kwek readily agreed to a request by President S R Nathan to donate copies of Heart Voyage to raise funds for the needy. The 160-page hard back art book features a collection of photo works taken by Mr Kwek over a five-year period from 1999 to 2004 both locally and abroad. The diverse collection of captivating images on landscape, people, fauna and flora is a pictorial platform on which Mr Kwek shares his philosophy and experiences in life and photography.
A total of 130 books were sold and raised $100,000 for 3 selected beneficiaries under PC 2005, namely Infant Jesus Homes & Children's Centre, Pathlight School and The Helping Hand. In addition, 11 copies of the book specially autographed by President Nathan had been offered for auction. 5 bids of $5,000 and 6 bids of $2,000 were accepted and President Nathan personally presented these 11 books to the generous bidders at an appreciation reception held at the Istana on 28 June 2005. This is not the first time Mr Kwek has lent his photography skills to aid charity. In 2004, one of Mr Kwek's photo works taken in Shangri La, Yunnan Province, raised an unprecedented sum of $300,000 for Renci Hospital.
Earth Day Charity Drive
CDL Staff went Green with a difference on Earth Day with a charity drive to reduce waste, encourage recycling habits and provide aid for a good cause. Organised over two days by CDL’s Staff Connect and The Salvation Army, CDL staff volunteered their time and effort, and dug deep into their pockets to raise over $9,000 for The Salvation Army.
Supporting Assisi Home & Hospice with Charity Fun Day 2005
For the fourth time since 1999, the Assisi Home & Hospice Charity Fun Day was held at Central Mall on Sunday, 19 June in aid of the Hospice and the Assisi Children's Centre. Co-organised by Assisi Home & Hospice, CDL, Central Mall and City Building Management, a subsidiary of CDL, the event was further supported by CDL City Sunshine Club and the Hong Leong Group Sports and Recreation Club. Over 180 food and game stalls were set up at this fundraising event with exciting activities planned throughout the day. In conjunction with Father's Day, a sausage eating contest for "father and child" teams was held. Football fans were also given the chance to score a goal with National Goalie, Lionel Lewis, while Dim Sum Dollies Pamela Oei and Selena Tan had the crowd in stitches with their hilarious "Sister Act".
CDL Rallies Together for Tsunami Aid
In aid of the victims of the Tsunami Disaster that struck on 26 December 2004, CDL and its staff embarked on various initiatives to help in the relief efforts:
CDL Dollar-for-Dollar Staff Donation Drive
Supporting the staff's drive to contribute money in aid of the victims, CDL matched every dollar donated by staff. A total of S$100,000 was given to the Singapore Red Cross Society’s Tidal Waves Asia Fund.
Mercy Relief City Centre
CDL offered a central and convenient premise at The Corporate Office along Robinson Road to Mercy Relief, a non-governmental humanitarian organization, as a collection point for the public to drop off donations and supplies. In addition, 4 other CDL buildings, Republic Plaza, Fuji Xerox Towers, New Tech Park and City House were also designated as collection centres. More than 100 CDL staff volunteers helped man the Corporate Office centre for 1 week and collected more than 800 boxes of supplies. Sponsor for the Fund Raising Opening Reception for Russel Wong's Photography Exhibition
CDL co-sponsored the opening event of Hotshots Asian Icons, an exhibition by celebrity photographer Russel Wong at the Singapore Tyler Print Institute. All proceeds raised from ticket sales at S$100 each and donations went to the Singapore Red Cross Society’s Tidal Waves Asia Fund. Hong Leong Foundation Donates S$200,000
Hong Leong Foundation, the charity arm of the Hong Leong Group also donated S$200,000 to the Singapore Red Cross Society’s Tidal Waves Asia Fund. CDL is part of the Hong Leong Group.

City of Angels with Youth Challenge Singapore
CDL was one of the main sponsors of this charity project organised by Youth Challenge Singapore in aid of some 300 elderly poor in the Bukit Merah area. Volunteers, family and friends lent their time and effort to the project which was launched in December 2004.
Assisi Home & Hospice Project Teddy Bank
"Saving as a Family, Giving with our Hearts". That is the motto spurring CDL staff and their families to support the Assisi Home & Hospice Project Teddy Bank. Each CDL department adopted a teddy bank and staff were encouraged to contribute daily for three months.
Tenants of Republic Plaza were approached to adopt a teddy bank, while a 30" tall Teddy Bank was placed in the building's lobby for visitors to make their donations.
In June 2004, a lunchtime road show was held at Republic Plaza to appeal to office workers to adopt one of 5000 teddy banks. Within two short hours, over 120 teddy banks were adopted.

CDL Group Steps Out for Assisi Home & Hospice Charity Carnival 2003
CDL and sister companies once again rallied to help raise funds for Assisi Home and Hospice through a carnival. This is the third time, since 1999, that CDL's Central Mall and subsidiary City Building Management have co-organised the event with Assisi by providing logistical, security and technical support. The carnival, opened by President and Mrs S R Nathan, brought together over 150 food, game and merchandise stalls.
Staff volunteers from CDL's City Sunshine Club and Hong Leong Group Sports & Recreation Club enthusiastically set up stalls for the Carnival, with CDL's subsidiary, Millennium & Copthorne International Limited showing its support by providing speciality dishes from its hotels.

President's Challenge 2002
CDL was a sponsor of the President's Challenge 2002 - Charity Bus event. Previously, funds raised from the President's Charity Night 2000 were distributed to Pertapis Halfway House, The Turning Point Halfway House, Lakeside Family Service Centre, YWMA-Mendaki Family Service Centre, MINDS Yio Chiu Kang Gardens School, and other charities.

CDL and Far East Organisation co-organised the charity bowling event in aid of the Assisi Home & Hospice cum Children's Centre and the Breast Cancer Foundation. With the generous support of business associates, we met our fund-raising target of $300,000.

CDL Receives Corporate Gold Award
CDL received the Corporate Gold Award from the Community Chest for sponsoring towards the Community Chest Charity Gala in March 2000. The event successfully raised $1.2 million for 55 charities supported by the National Council of Social Services.
